1 John 3:18 says, "let's not merely say that we love each other, let us show the truth with our actions."
As a Church, we believe God wants us to INTERSECT with the lives of those who are in need and living in less fortunate circumstances.
We are sometimes asked about our involvement in the community. For example, we might hear, "What does Southside Church do for families in nees?" Or, "How is Southside involved in caring for the homeless?" These are great questions.
We made a decision not to replicate ministries that are already doing an excellent job meeting specific needs in our community. Instead, we have chosen to INTERSECT by investing human and financial resources into a handful of organizations that are doing a far better job within their spheres of influence than we could ever do. Below you will find our current list of what we refer to as Compassion Ministries.

Compassion Ministries:
What began as a
program to feed and house homeless men has evolved over the years to a 36-bed
transitional facility serving homeless men with chronic alcohol and drug
dependency issues. The goal of the program is to prepare participants to become
self-sustaining members of society with functional households, sobriety and
full time employment. The transitional process takes 18 – 24 months and has a
65% success rate (compared to other recovery programs which have a 10% success
rate). Graduates of the program have their own job, apartment, checking account
and car. Southside has committed to provide dinner to the Trinity House
residents on the first Monday of each month. This includes preparing or purchasing a full meal (main
course, sides, bread and dessert) for 40 residents plus the Southside volunteers
each month.

childhood trauma and provides a safe place for them to find healing.
