Groups Division Leadership Application

Thank you for your interest in being a Community Group leader. We believe the Community Group environment is the best place for sustained life change to occur. Therefore, Community Groups are essential in the accomplishment of our mission to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Our Community Group leaders are such an important part of helping us achieve our mission that we take great care when enlisting them. Please read through the information below to better understand the role of a leader, qualifications and expectations. Role of a Community Group Leader
A Community Group leader is responsible for providing his/her group with vision, direction and support. Leaders are successful when they are personally growing in their intimacy with God, community with insiders and influence with outsiders (The 3 Vital Relationships) and are leading the group in such a way to encourage the group members' growth in these 3 relationships as well. Each Community Group leader is supported by a staff member.

Qualifications
A Community Group Leader should...
  • Have a personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ. [For at least 2 years]
  • Recognize the Bible and its teachings as the authority for their life.
  • Preferably have Community Group experience.
  • Be a member of Southside Church. (If you are not a member and would like to find out more, click here: www.southside.org/membership).
  • Have the time in their schedule, emotional capacity and moral discernment to lead a group.
Expectations
  • Leads the group by facilitating the group meeting, monitoring its health and duration and promoting participation among group members.
  • Commits to engage in leadership development opportunities provided by the church.
  • Identifies and develops a qualified apprentice and embraces apprentice leader development as a measure of success.
